Viking Mariners is situated at the Historic Waterfront in Ipswich on the beautiful River Orwell. Their sailing yachts and power boats are fully equipped to provide a unique adventure or cruising experience.
When Lee Weavers, its principal contacted us recently, having read February’s article about sailor Bob Trimble’s experiences with the Compact 1 ready readers, we were keen to help.
A former senior police officer, now retired, Lee’s enthusiasm and drive are far from diminshed. As well as being the head of Viking and his business consultancy, Leema Risk he has decided to get his feet wet in retail. His partner, Sue, an experienced retailer is also looking for a new challenge so they have just opened Promenade, an exclusive retail outlet on the Marina in Ipswich.Lee told us that he had been looking for a lighweight pair of UV resistant tinted reading glasses for some time for the boats because many of his clients are at an age where presbyopia is setting in. On reading Bob’s comments on high attrition rate and needing something that has no metal parts and fits neatly into a pair of shorts the Compact 1 Sun Readers sounded just the ticket. “A sailing day, afternoon or an overnight getaway, gives you the chance to experience life on the open waves and to get involved with the activity in a hands-on-way, or alternatively just sit back and relax!” says Lee. “But one of the items missing from our inventory has been a pair of low cost reading glasses fit for the marine environment which won’t break the
bank if they go overboard.

”
Having read the Goggleyes blog and then talked through the product with Mark, on his recent visit to Ipswich, we’re convinced we’ve got a winner with the Nannini Compact 1′s.
Not to be out done Sue, an optician and former senior manager for Dollond & Aitchison, has decided to add a Counter Top display to the Promenade and Viking inventory. “Many of our clients don’t like to take their expensive designer reading glasses on board for fear of them ending up in the brink. The stylish nannini product will complement the other items in the Promenade Range” says Sue.

The Compact 1 Sun Readers are a must for sailors wanting to read on board this summer. Available in a variety of colours and dioptres the retail display stand (free to retailers with their first order) sits neatly on the counter top.

So, if you are booking with Viking Mariners this season, you don’t need to be a regular or experienced sailor, as you will be on board in the safe hands of a professional skippper. If the sun’s shining then you can also be sure the skipper, if it’s Lee, will be able to read his charts or the plotter.
The Compact 1 Sun Reader chosen by Lee are now available in Ipswich from Promenade
